Kupwara: In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities in rural Kupwara, Canara Bank’s Gagal Branch, in collaboration with Govt. Middle School Katyanwali, inaugurated a Smart Education Facility today. The facility was developed under Canara Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at bringing technology-driven learning resources to underserved schools in the region.
The event was graced by notable guests, including Chief Education Officer Abdul Majeed Dar, Zonal Education Officer Farooq Ahmad, Cluster Head Maidanpora Mohammad Anwar, and Branch Head of Canara Bank, Abrar Ul Mustafa.
In his address, Abrar Ul Mustafa emphasized Canara Bank’s commitment to social responsibility and education. He highlighted that Canara Bank, one of India’s largest PSU banks, is dedicated to both profitable growth and community service, with a focus on financial inclusion and supporting local development. The Gagal Branch, opened as part of this policy, brings accessible banking services to the unbanked population of the area.
The newly installed Smart Education Facility is equipped with modern tools designed to aid teachers in delivering a high-quality, tech-enabled learning experience. The initiative also includes Canara Bank’s continued support for the school under the Canara Vidyajyoti Scheme, which annually provides scholarships to girl students from grades 5 to 10.
CEO Abdul Majeed Dar and ZEO Farooq Ahmad both commended Canara Bank’s initiative, noting its importance for rural education. Mohammad Anwar, Cluster Head Maidanpora, added that this partnership exemplifies how institutions can contribute to community development.
The ceremony concluded with an appeal for teachers to make full use of the new facilities to develop students’ skills and prepare them for a technology-oriented future.
