Jammu : Divisional Seed Certification Officer (Regional Council PGS-India) Jammu on Saturday organized one day Training on Organic /Natural Farming for Active LRPs & LG Members at PanchayatGharPanjgrain, Nagrota. The skill sensitization program was hosted inder Alternate Agriculture System for Sustainability Project of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme in which around 50 farmers of different Organic Clusters active on PGS-India Portal participated.
In the technical session, the farmers were made aware about the technique of formulating bio- Fertilizers & Bio-Pesticides – an essential process to improve the soil health, bio-diversity, food quality and get the organic certificate to increase farm income.
Divisional Seed Certification Officer (Regional Council PGS-India) Jammu Prem Singh handed over Scope Certificates to 4 organic clusters (Local Groups) consisting of 200 farmers. He also distributed literature regarding methods of organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides preparation /application along with kits of Bio-Fertilizers to the participants.
The farmers appreciated the effort of the Agriculture Department and reaffirmed their commitment to carry forward the mission of Organic /Natural Farming in their area.
SDAO, DansalChanderShekhar and field Officers handling Organic Clusters attended the programme.
Vishal Sharma, Itwari Sharma, Arvind Bali from DSCO Office Jammu delivered expert lectures on Organic/Natural inputs formation.
Programme Officer Jammu Rajeev Katoch conducted the programme, linking historical strengths of Indian Agriculture having capabilities to face present day challenges confronting sustainable Agriculture.
