Jammu : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a Police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kanispora Baramulla, intercepted a suspect identified as Junaid Ahmad Dar S/o Zahoor Ahmad R/o Kanispora and during search recovered 12 grams of Heroin & 6 grams Opium from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that in a similar action a Police party of Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at Garkote-Machikrand Crossing Uri, intercepted a suspect identified as Shabir Ahmad Janjua S/o Abdul Majeed R/o Machikrand Uri and recovered 36 grams of Charas during search from his possession, Police in its statement further said that the said accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered besides initiating investigations . In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
