DC Shopian inaugurates Bazm- E- Adab, a Cultural & Literary Festival

Shopian : A grand and spectacular one day Bazm-E-Adab, a Literary and Cultural Festival was on Thursday organised at GDC Shopian to pay tributes to Shahbaz Rajourvi, legendary Poet and teacher.
The festival was jointly organised by the Department of Education, Shopian and Department of Information & PR, Shopian in collaboration with Shahbaz Foundation, J&K.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar who was also chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the conduct of literary function, expressed the hope that the young and new generations shall engage themselves in writing and poetry.
By celebrating the rich artistic and literary legacy, the motto should be to encourage people towards the expression of creative and imaginative contours of personality through writing, said DC.
Poets have always been free to express their thoughts and emotions, showing mirror to the society and have been the most important and highly regarded members in the community, he further added.
During the first session presided by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Dr Zakir Hussain Faaz, literary papers on the life and works of Shahbaz Rajouri were presented by Sajjad Ahmad, Irfan Ahmad Sofi, Ab Hamid, Ashraf Ravi and Farooq Fareed.
The poetry and writings of Shahbaz were presented in the most eloquent manner by the distinguished laureates.
Dr.Zakir in his speech highlighted the outstanding and intellectual achievements of the poet and also appreciated the rich presentation of laureates, highlighting the contribution of Shahbaz Rajouri.
In the mushaira session, Shadab Sarshad, Shazada Rafiq,Yousuf Jahanger, Shamas Saleem, Gh.Ahmad Showkeen, Javid Hassan Chitragami, Nazir Alam, Shadab Yasmeen, Dilbar Vishrow, Saqib Faheem, Muzamil Ahmad Muzamil, Amin Parwaz, Ahsan Abdul Salam and Ashraf Ravi took part and recited poetic stanzas, enthralling the audience with vibrant content.
The Festival also featured varied cultural performances presented by local artists and students. Poetic collections on multiple societal issues & women related issues were highlights of the day.
A Felicitation ceremony was also held in which poets, staff, organisers of Foundation and media were felicitated for their contribution towards the organisation and publicity of government schemes and programmes.
The program was also attended by Principal, GDC Shopian, CEO, DIO, Dy.SP, other officers and officials and was attended by a galaxy of teachers, students and locals.
Dr.Anis Altaf, Farooq Fareed and other concerned from Shahbaz Foundation were also present on the occasion.
