Jammu : The Livestock Development Board Jammu organized a one day training programme for field Artificial Insemination workers here at the Para-vet Training Institute, Bari-Brahmana under Rashtriya Gokul Mission. The event was inaugurated by the Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr. Waheeda Parveen who is also the CEO Livestock Development Board, Jammu. Over 80 participants (Nodal Officers and field workers) from all the districts of Jammu division actively participated in the training.
The training session was led by experts from Genus ABS Pvt. Ltd, Pune who provided vital insights into Sex-Sorted Semen technology, its proper handling and usage along with good managemental practices for achieving higher conception rates in cattle for the benefit of dairy farmers.
Director Animal Husbandry Jammu in her address spoke about how the use of Sex-Sorted Semen technology in livestock sector shall prove a game changer by not only increasing the production of superior quality female calves leading to enhanced milk production but also by limiting stray male cattle population as with this technological intervention the probability of getting only female calves is around 90 percent.
The director further said that earlier the sexed semen technology was costly and not available to our farmers at an affordable rate but now it is being highly subsidized by the government and its cost has come down to only Rs 250 per dose.
In her concluding remarks the Director impressed upon the officers and officials present for regular uploading of all breeding data on designated software so that it can be monitored properly.
At the end the gathering thanked experts from Genus ABD India for updating their knowledge and skills and expressed gratitude towards Director Animal Husbandry Jammu for organizing such valuable training.
