Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two gamblers in Kulgam and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on inputs regarding the gambling activities at Sursuna near Railway Station Harnag, a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Qaimoh raided the said location and arrested two gamblers identified as Arif Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Rehman Dar and Asif Ahmad Dar S/o Nazir Ahmad Dar, both residents of Shoul Batengo. Stating that the stake money of Rs-69,000/- & playing cards was recovered from the possession of the said accused, Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh besides initiating investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local Police units.
