Jammu: Two Village Defense Guards (VDG) were reported killed by the militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah have condemned the attack.
An official said that two VDGs identified as Nazir Ahmad, son of Muhammad Khalil and Kuldeep Kumar, son of Amar Chand–both residents of Ohli, Kuntwara have been killed by the militants in Kishtwar. The official said that the duo would always go to Munzla Dhar (Adhwari) for grazing their cattle but today they didn’t return. As per sources bodies haven’t been recovered yet, a massive search operation launched by forces. The fresh attack comes at a time when J&K is witnessing spurt in attacks on non-J&K work force and encounters.
Meanwhile, Lt Governor Manoj Sinh, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah have in their separate statements condemned the gruesome killing of two VDGs in Kishtwar. Condemning the militant attack on VDG members in Kishtwar the Lt Governor paid homage to slain Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar and reiterated the Government’s resolve to destroy all militants outfits and avenge the barbaric act. In a post on X, he wrote: “No words are strong enough to condemn the heinous terrorist attack on VDG members in Kishtwar. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of brave sons martyred in this cowardly attack. We are firmly resolved to destroy all terror outfits & avenge this barbaric act”.
Meanwhile J&K National Conference in a post on “X” formerly called “twitter” quoted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also the Party’s Vice President and Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah as saying “such acts of barbaric violence remain a significant impediment in achieving the long-lasting peace in J&K. “In this hour of grief, their thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.”
