4 Drug Peddlers Arrested In B’la, Contraband Substance Also Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO Police Station Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Vizer Crossing, intercepted a bike (two-wheeler) bearing registration no JK16-1407 ridden by Tanveer Ahmad Dar S/o Khazir Mohd Dar and Musaib Ahmad Dar S/o Manzoor Ahmad both residents of Hadipora Baramulla and during search recovered 1.47Kgs of contraband dried cannabis and cash amount of Rs 1K from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in its statement further said that the bike used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that in a similar action in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO Police Station Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Check Tapper, intercepted a suspect identified as Abdul Rashid Khan S/o Mohd Khan R/o Kreeri, Police in its statement further said that during search, 3Kgs of contraband poppy straw like substances were recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement furthermore said that a police party of Police Post Mirgund headed by Incharge Police Post Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Chenabal near Jheel, intercepted a person identified as Abid Hussain Sofi S/o Ghulam Hussain R/o Yakhmanpora Pattan, adding therein that during search 1.88 Kgs of contraband Charas like substances was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respectively Police Stations besides initiating investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
