Srinagar : Police in Sopore on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by I/c Police Post Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Seelo, apprehended a suspect identified as Umar Farooq Sheikh S/o Farooq Ahmad Sheikh R/o Seelo Sopore and during search recovered 3.5 Kgs of Charas Powder the possession of the said accused.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 232 of 2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. Police also appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
