Jammu : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and also recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Police Station in Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore during naka checking near EDI Pampore intercepted a vehicle (Eco Sports) bearing registration nor HR26CK-0579 with three suspects identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Rasool Shah R/o Tanchabagh Pampore, Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Aziz Sheikh R/o Namblabal Pampore and HarisYounisS/o Younis SaleemR/o Hawalon board.
Stating that during checking, 2 bottles of Codeine were recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further said that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized, adding therein that a case under FIR no. 128/2024 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pampore besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
