Baramulla: Amongst us, there are many who are differently abled. These individuals are in no way less capable than us, all they need from us is a little understanding and guidance. In Baramulla district there is little to no infrastructure to help differently abled children. The long drawn conflict has adversely impacted growth and prosperity in Baramulla, as well the rest of Kashmir. The worst affected are the children and more so, differently abled children.
As a humanitarian effort the DAGGER DIVISON organised a Regional Parent’s Meet for Baramulla District. The event is supported by the National Institute for Mental Health (NIMH) of the central Govt and its subsidiary NGOs:-
– National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability (NIEPIDs).
– Parivaar.
– Humanity Wealth Org Helpline, Bijbehara, Anantnag, J & K.
The two day event was inaugurated on the 18th Nov by Maj Gen R P Kalita SM, VSM, GOC 19 Inf Div. The event was also attended by Jenab Javid Hassan Baig MLA Baramulla, Educationists and Medical ministry members. The General Officer distributed trg aids for the differently abled children. This gesture was applauded by the parents and locals, who for the first time were able to get access to workshops and counselling for their wards.
