Drug peddler arrested in B’gam, contraband also substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Charar-e-Sharief received an input through reliable source about illegal dumping of dried poppy straw and crushed cannabis by one Khurshid Ahmad Ganie S/o Abdullah Ganie R/o Bunhar Charawani in his residential house following which a police party conducted a search of the said house along with Naib Tehsildar Charar-e-Sharief . Stating during search 6Kgs of poppy straw, 5Kgs of dried cannabis like substance and 1Kg of semi dried cannabis leaves was recovered and seized on spot, Police in its statement further said that the accused was arrested on the spot and h shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that a case under FIR No. 100/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Charar e Sharief besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
