Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in north Kashmir’s Sopore district and also recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Watergam headed by I/C Police Post Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad Aabid Rashid Mir and SHO Police Station Dangiwacha during patrolling at Hadipora Laiser crossing apprehended one Mehraj-ud-Din Mir S/o Abdul Khaliq Mir R/o Chijhama Rafiabad and during search recovered 32 grams of charas-like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Dangiwacha besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112, urging people therein to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs in the society.
