Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police Station Safapora received inputs about reliable inputs about one Umar Reyaz Bhat S/o Reyaz Ahmad Bhat R/o Treesa, Safapora having hoarded some contraband Cannabis like substance inside his residential house with an intention to sell it to the local youth of the area.
Stating that while acting swiftly, special police team led by SHO Safapora conducted a search of the said house along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class Lar and during search recovered 11.2 Kgs (Approximately) of crushed Cannabis-like substance (Bung Patti with top & Seeds) , Police in its statement further said that the said accused was arrested on the spot and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in its statement further said a case under FIR No. 26/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Safapora besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
