Jammu: The President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah Monday emphasized the importance of voting for Congress-NC alliance candidates to safeguard the diversity and identity of Jammu & Kashmir .
Addressing an election rally in Budhal in support of contesting candidate Javed Iqbal, Dr. Farooq emphasized the critical need to strengthen alliances in Jammu Province. “These alliances are essential to combat forces determined to erode Jammu’s unique character and cultural diversity. The fight is significant, aimed to safeguard the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir that have been neglected by the BJP.” Dr. Farooq expressed grave concern over the rise in militant activities in the Jammu region under the BJP’s rule. “This alarming trend has plunged once peaceful areas into darkness, threatening the safety and security of residents. Even regions previously cleared of militancy are now under attack with alarming frequency. Our brave soldiers are making sacrifices, while locals live in constant fear. The sense of security has been shattered, leaving people yearning for peace,” he said.
Dr. Farooq stressed the importance of tackling the daily challenges faced by the people. “Promises have been made in the manifesto to implement an employment policy to combat unemployment, rationalize electricity supply, provide fee relief, and ensure access to clean drinking water. Schemes for widows, senior citizens, and economically disadvantaged individuals will be revived. The legacy of free education up to university level, once championed by the Lion of Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, will be restored.” He further added, “The people of PirPanjal are demanding answers, and they will deliver their verdict through the ballot. It is time to stand united, to fight for our rights, and to reclaim the prosperity and security that is rightfully ours. The battle is fierce, but with determination and unity, we will emerge victorious.”
