Srinagar : Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi on Friday showcased advancements in plastic surgery and oncology to bring “cutting-edge medical treatments” to the Kashmir region.
Addressing a press conference here, prominent Surgical Oncologist Dr Sameer Kaul, who has conducted clinical visits to Kashmir over the years, said, “There is a concerning rise in gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal and stomach cancers, as well as an increase in lung cancer.” Over the past few decades, there has been a spike in prostate cancers among men in Kashmir, he added .
Dr Kaul said significant progress has been made in cancer treatment through innovations such as robotic surgery, targeted therapies and immunotherapy, which have enhanced patient outcomes.
Joining Dr Kaul was Dr Shahin Nooreyezdan, Senior Consultant in Cosmetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Apollo Hospital. He discussed the increasing demand for reconstructive and aesthetic procedures and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to high ethical standards, safety and the latest techniques in plastic surgery.
The hospital’s spokesperson said the conference featured both experts discussing how integrating advanced surgical techniques with innovative oncology practices is significantly improving patient care.
