Voter awareness activities intensified across Rajouri

Rajouri : In anticipation to the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Election 2024, a district-wide voter awareness campaign was Thursday conducted across Rajouri District under the leadership of District Election Officer Abhishek Sharma and District Nodal Officer (SVEEP) Bishamber Dass (CEO Rajouri). The campaign, which targeted various constituencies, was designed to promote electoral literacy and encourage voter participation.
The unique initiative in AC-83 Kalakote-Sunderbani included a signature campaign themed “Wall of Democracy” at GHS Massiote, where students and faculty committed to support democratic values. SVEEP team members, Muddasir Mughal and Deepak Kumar, delivered awareness lectures to emphasize the importance of voting and electoral literacy.
In AC-84 Nowshera, a meeting was held at GMS Pind Narian, supervised by Nodal Officer SVEEP J.P Singh. The session focused on increasing voter turnout in historically low-performing polling stations. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were directed to collaborate with BAG teams to enhance voter participation.
A mega voter awareness event was held at village Sagote in AC-85 Rajouri, attracting over 220 participants, including students, staff and local residents. The event featured an awareness rally, a pledge ceremony and a door-to-door voter outreach campaign. The SVEEP team also launched a balloon campaign at Gujjar Mandi Chowk, where balloons adorned with slogans like “Your Vote, Your Voice” were displayed, engaging passersby and promoting voter participation. The creative campaign was spearheaded by Nodal Officer SVEEP Rakesh Kumar Sharma in partnership with the District SVEEP team members including Mohammad Ayaz Raina & Aejaz-ul-Haq.
Prof. Tahir Nadeem, Nodal Officer SVEEP 86- Budhal Assembly Constituency, led a voter awareness lecture at Model Academy, Nazamabad, Koteranka. The event featured a pledge by students and staff to uphold democratic principles and vote without bias. A quiz competition on electoral processes was also organized at Government High School, Chambitrar, with teams led by Amjid Ali, Shazaib Altaf, and Bilal Ahmed winning first, second, and third prizes, respectively. Additionally, a voter turnout evaluation was conducted at polling station 108-Gundha, focusing on addressing low voter engagement. Booth Level Awareness Groups (BAGs) were assigned to bolster local voter outreach efforts.
In Thannamandi AC-87, a mega awareness camp was organized at Boys Model GHSS Thannamandi, where SVEEP team members and school staff delivered motivational speeches. Students were encouraged to act as ambassadors for the SVEEP message, spreading voter awareness throughout the community. In Public HSS Darhal various activities under SVEEP were also organised pledge ceremony, volleyball match, Skit, awareness lecture on electoral process, door to door Campaign
These initiatives, spread across Rajouri District, reflect the district’s commitment to raising voter awareness and ensuring a strong and informed electorate for the upcoming Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Elections 2024.
