Inter-college mega SVEEP event held at GCOE Srinagar to promote voter awareness

Srinagar : Govt. College of Education (GCOE)/IASE M.A Road on Thursday organized an Inter-college Mega SVEEP Event at the Auditorium of college here with an aim of increasing voter awareness and encouraging electoral participation among the youth of Srinagar.
The event was inaugurated by Nodal Principal of Kashmir Division Colleges, Prof. Seema Naz.
Students and faculty members from various city colleges actively participated in this event.
In her inaugural speech, Prof. Seema Naz stressed on the importance of voting, describing it as the fundamental and basic pillar of democracy. She emphasized that young voters have the power to shape the future of the country through their participation in the electoral process.
The program featured a variety of engaging activities. A musical performance by Amar Singh College students, captivated the audience with songs promoting voter awareness, including the notable track “Mai Bharat Hoon”.
A skit by Govt. College of Education students emphasizing that voting is the key to democracy, surpassing wealth and power and Poetry recitation by Hardip Singh from AAAM Degree College, who shared meaningful poetry and Kashmiri songs focused on the power of voting, enthralled the audience.
A skit titled “Chunav Patshala” by GCW Nowakadal students, illustrated the entire election process, from voter registration to casting a vote and voter awareness song performed by Mohammad Shafi, a B.Ed student, who composed the piece to inspire students about the importance of voting, also inspired the gathering.
A musical jugalbandi by S.P. College students to creatively promote the significance of voting also captivated the mood of audience.
A painting competition was also held, with students from various city colleges expressing their views on democracy through artwork.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Dean of Students, who expressed his gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders for their efforts in making the event a success.
This Mega SVEEP Event effectively energized the youth, reminding them of their responsibility to vote and contribute to the democratic process. It was a vital initiative aimed at increasing voter participation in the elections.
