Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam district and also recovered contraband substance & cash from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Humhama during naka checking, intercepted a suspect identified as Rayees Ahmed Mir S/o Gulzar Ahmed Mir R/o Mohanpora Narkara while he was carrying a nylon bag but despite trying to flee from the spot on seeing the police party he was apprehended tactfully.
Stating that during search, two Sticks of Charas weighing about 58 grams, 1 mobile phone and cash was recovered from the possession of the said accused, the Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 376/2024 under relevant section of law was registered at Police Station Budgam besides commencing the investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.
