Srinagar: SwachhataPakhwada Campaign commenced at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Friday, with a range of activities planned by the organizers.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office NIT Srinagar the SwachhataPakhwada is being organized by the NSS unit of the Institute and the inaugural event drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and sanitation staff, showcasing their dedication to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India.
The pledge ceremony was held at the Main Faculty Block at 9:30 AM and was administered by student coordinators. After that mega cleanliness drive was carried out by sanitation staff accompanied by NSS student volunteers from Fountain Park to the Director’s residence.
Later, the organizers distributed T-shirts and presented appreciation certificates to the sanitation staff
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. A. RavinderNath, and Registrar Prof. AtikurRahman said the Institute aims to involve our students and staff in these activities to promote hygiene and environmental care, creating a cleaner and more sustainable campus. They also highlighted the key activities of the SwachhataPakhwada Campaign, including cleanliness drives, support for sanitation staff, waste management workshops, and student competitions.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman that the focus of such activities on campus is to instill strong values of hygiene and environmental responsibility among the staff and students.
Among the attendees were NSS Coordinator, Dr. JitendraGurjar, Dr. Abdullah Ahmad, Ghulam Hassan, Manager Laxmi Chand & Sons Company, Abdul GaniGanai and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
NSS Coordinator, Dr. JitendraGurjar said SwachhataPakhwada, an integral part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aims to enhance public awareness about sanitation and waste management.
“Each year, the campaign focuses on different aspects of sanitation, ranging from waste segregation and management to the promotion of hygiene practices on the campus,” he said.
Dr. Gurjar expressed his gratitude to Director NIT Srinagar Prof. A. RavinderNath, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. AtikurRehman and other dignitaries for their continuous support to NSS unit on the campus.
On the occasion, Dr. Abdullah said that the SwachhataPakhwada Campaign is not just an event but a vital part of NIT Srinagar’s commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier campus environment.
