NIELIT conferred with deemed University status with NIELIT Srinagar as one of the constituent Campus

Srinagar : The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has been conferred with the status of Deemed university, with this the NIELIT Srinagar has become one of the Constituent Campus of newly established NIELIT Deemed-to-be University under Distinct Category.
NIELIT Deemed-to-be University is the only University under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It has its main campus at Ropar, and other 11 constituent centres at Agartala, Aizawl, Ajmer, Aurangabad, Calicut, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Gorakhpur, Patna and Srinagar. The Deemed to be University is offering IT and Electronics programs which are Research and industry-relevant. The University is also offering Doctorate, Post Graduate, Undergraduate and Diploma courses across its 11 constituent centres.
NIELIT Deemed-to-be University aims to advance education and research in electronics, information technology, and related fields. The move underscores a broader vision for integrating specialized institutions into larger academic frameworks, aiming for comprehensive development and innovation.
NIELIT Srinagar’s new status will enhance its capabilities by providing a broader platform for academic and research excellence.
AshaqHussain Dar, Director Incharge, NIELIT J&K highlighted that “To begin with, NIELIT Srinagar is launching two significant programs: a Master of Technology (MTech) in Cyber Forensics and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program. These programs are designed to address the growing demand for specialized expertise in cybersecurity and advanced research in technology.”
He further added that the MTech in Cyber Forensics will offer students cutting-edge knowledge and skills in the analysis and prevention of cybercrimes, while the PhD program aims to foster high-level research and innovation in various technology domains. Both programs reflect the university’s commitment to addressing contemporary challenges and driving forward technological advancements. More specialized programs will be launched in near future in the emerging areas of electronics and information technology
The incorporation of NIELIT Srinagar into the NIELIT Deemed-to-be University is expected to create a ripple effect and foster regional development by elevating the standards of technical education in the region.
