Mega SVEEP event held at Hazratbal- AC

Event aimed to enhance Voter awareness, encourage participation of residents in the electoral process

Srinagar : A significant mega Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) event was conducted on Wednesday at Baghe-Shagufa Park, Nigeen in Hazratbal Assembly Constituency (AC) with an aim to enhance voter awareness and encourage the participation of residents in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of every eligible citizen casting their vote.
The primary goal of the event was to spread mass awareness about the importance of voting among the residents of Hazratbal constituency. The event underscored the need for all eligible voters, particularly those over the age of 18, to actively participate in the electoral process and avoid wasting their votes.
The event was presided over by Dr Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Election Observer 19-Hazratbal AC and was attended by Returning Officer Hazratbal AC, Syed Ahmad Kataria; Chief Education Officer, Nodal Officer SVEEP Hazratbal AC, Principals of Various Constituent Higher Secondary Schools, Heads of Constituent Schools, Officers from Civil Administration and police and National Awardee Teachers.
The mega SVEEP event was a resounding success, with over 15,000 participants across the constituency of Hazratbal including students, teachers and local residents came together to promote the crucial message of voter participation.
The event commenced with a lively ‘Run from Democracy’, starting from the lawns of BHSS Hazratbal, passing through the streets of Hazratbal, and concluding at Nigeen Park. This run symbolized the journey and importance of participating in the democratic process.
On the occasion, cultural programs including indigenous art form Nukad Natak, traditional dance (Rouf) and Kashmiri Chakker were presented, which were aimed to highlight the significance of voting and encouraged the audience to participate actively in elections.
Among sports events, Kho-Kho, Freestyle Martial Arts, Kite Flying, Tug of War and Human Chain were performed by students from various schools emphasizing teamwork, discipline, unity, freedom and dedication and community spirit, paralleling the unity needed for effective electoral participation.
The event witnessed key speeches by the students on the importance of elections, these speeches served as powerful reminders of the impact of voting on the community and the nation.
The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude from the Nodal Officer SVEEP Hazratbal AC, Fayaz Ahmad to the district administration for their support, to all participants, including principals, heads of institutions, students, and teachers, for their contributions in making the event a grand success.
Chief Education Officer Srinagar also addressed the audience, urging students and participants to engage actively in the upcoming assembly elections.
