Handwara: A Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program was organized at Girls Higher Secondary School, (GHSS) Handwara to educate and empower young minds about the importance of voting and democratic participation.
The program, conducted by GHSS Handwara in coordination with Nodal Officer SVEEP, aimed to sensitize Voters, and students about their rights and responsibilities. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged in interactive sessions, quizzes, and discussions on electoral processes and duties.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Returning Officer (RO) Aziz Ahmed Rathar remarked that SVEEP is a flagship initiative designed to enhance voter education, raise awareness and promote electoral literacy across the country. He highlighted the critical importance of voting in strengthening democracy and ensuring inclusive elections.
The RO acknowledged the vital role played by ASHA and Anganwadi workers in encouraging voter turnout and their continued efforts in supporting electoral participation.
The RO encouraged the electorate to recognize the significance of their vote and urged voters to participate in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, wheel chair facility for differently-abled voters & home voting for voters aged 85 have been ensured in the 5-Handwara Constituency.
A pledge was also administered by RO to participants during the event, encouraging all attendees to promote voter turnout and ensure that every eligible voter in the district exercises their franchise.
Among others, the programme was attended by District Nodal Officer SVEEP CEO Kupwara AbMajeed Dar; AERO Handwara, Zeeshan Khan; Dy CEO Kupwara, Zonal Nodal Officer SVEEP, ZEO Handwara, Principal BHSS Handwara& students.
