4 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama & Ang, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Pulwama and Anantnag and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Arihal, intercepted a Motorcycle bearing registration number PB03AN-8375 ridden by two suspects identified as Bashir Ahmad Khan S/o Gull Mohammad Khan R/o MatiporaKulgam and Irshad Ahmad Khan S/o Bashir Ahmad Khan R/o ShaliporaKulgam, adding therein that during search, 20.21 grams of Heroin like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody besides which the motorcycle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 176/2024 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pulwama besides initiating investigation.
Stating that in a similar action in Anantnag, a police team of Police Post Shairbagh at a checkpoint established at Pehroo Curve Anantnag, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL7CJ-8332 with two suspects on board ad during search recovered 19 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle, Police in its above referred statement further said that the above named accused were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir S/o AbRehman Mir and Tariq Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Hassan, both residents of Mir Check Mattan and subsequently arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 169/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Anantnag besides initiating investigation, In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
