Pulwama: Senior Congress leader Surinder Singh Channi filed his nomination papers for the upcoming assembly elections from the Tral constituency as the NC-Congress alliance candidate on Tuesday.
Channi was greeted with a warm welcome by his supporters from various areas of Tral sub district after submitting his nomination papers. Addressing the media, he expressed his gratitude to the Congress High Command and NC top leaders for the opportunity to contest from Tral. Singh highlighted the decades-old communal harmony in Tral among Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus as the reason behind his candidacy. He sought votes from the people, promising that an NC-Congress Alliance government would prioritize employment opportunities for young boys and girls. S.S. Channi acknowledged the suffering of the people post-2019 and assured that the alliance government would work towards their welfare. It is pertinent to mention here that around 13 candidates have filed nominations for the Tral constituency, making it a highly contested seat.
