All J&K State Chess Tournament Concludes with Impressive Performances Across Categories

Srinagar: The All J&K State Chess Tournament successfully concluded at the Srinagar Sports Club, witnessing a remarkable display of talent and sportsmanship from young chess enthusiasts. The tournament, organized by the All J&K State Chess Association and sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council and the All India Chess Federation, featured competitions in six categories: U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U15 Boys, U15 Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls. The event, held from 24th to 26th August 2024, attracted participants from across the region. A total cash prize of ₹284,000 was announced for the top performers in the various categories. The names of top six players in each category are mentioned below:
• U13 Boys:

3. Ahmed Gowhar
4. Ehan Sajad
5. Malik Huzaif bin Zahid
6. Sehajdeep Singh
• U13 Girls:

2. Maryara Sharma

5. Noorian Jan
6. Hoor Fatima
• U15 Boys:
1. Hamzah Malik
2. Arush Sharma
3. Ehan Sajad
4. Rithvik Gandotra
5. Mohammad Qasim
6. Syed Ikhlas Bukhari
• U15 Girls:
1. Fatima
2. Areeba Shabir
3. Srujanika Gupta
4. Mirayaa Sharma
5. Huda Jan
6. Amal Fatima
• U19 Girls:
1. Manasvi Gupta
2. Srujanika Gupta
3. Mohamina Hassan
4. Fatima
5. Fatima Khursheed
6. Mahnoor Adfar
• U19 Boys:
1. Mohammad Aayan Khan
2. Hamzah Malik
3. Mohammad Moosa
4. Muhammad Hamzah Khan
5. Rithvik Gandotra
6. Soumya Mahajan
The top 2 players in the U13 categories and the top 14 players in the U15 and U19 categories will represent J&K in the upcoming nationals. Trophies were distributed among the winners, and the Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex supervised the event throughout. The tournament was successfully conducted under the observation of AB Rashid Wani (Financial Advisor) and Comrade Parvez (Treasurer), along with other members of the association. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Arshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the All J&K Chess Association.
