Srinagar, Aug 23: The Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu has become the first health facility in the country to have armed forces for the security of medical staff. Before this, the West Bengal government had said it would recruit personnel from police, army, navy, and air force for hospital security.
The move has come following the rape and murder of a female doctor in western city of Kolkata which stirred people and governments across the country, demanding justice for the victim and the protection for medical workers in the country’s hospitals.
