Jammu: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddler, seized 305 grams of Heroin, recovered cash and seized a vehicle at Nagrota in Jammu district.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that while continuing its drive against drug trafficking and substances abuse the authorities of Police Station Nagrota Jammu recovered 305 grams of heroin and cash amounting to 1,98400- from the possession of two drug peddlers in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota.
Stating that a Police team of Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Nagrota under the supervision of senior officers on receiving credible inputs about the movement of a venue car bearing Reg No. HP 33AA-1889 rom jammu side towards Srinagar with a consignment of heroin-like substance, Police in its statement further said that a special Naka was established at TCP Nagrota and the said car was intercepted, adding therein that during search 305 grams of Herion (Chitta) like substance along with cash amounting to 198400 was recovered from the possession of two accused persons. Police in its statement further said that the said accused were identified as Khursheed Ahmad Wani S/O Mohd. Shafi Wani R/O Lower Munda,Qazigund and Adil Sharief Dar S/O Mohd.Sharief Dar R/O Darpora, Banihal, adding therein that both the accused were arrested and car used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that a case under FIR No.227/24 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Nagrota, Police in its statement further said that further, investigation of the case is going on, adding therein that efforts are on to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.

In the concluding para of its statement Police said that it is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace. Police in its statement also appealed people of the area to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption by dialling 100 with Police for the cause, reiterating therein that identity of those informing police about drug peddling will be kept confidential.
