Srinagar, Aug 20: Senior political leader and former minister Adv Abdul Haq Khan has rejoined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday.

The rejoining ceremony took place in the presence of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and Senior Vice President Ab Hamid Chaudhary, who welcomed Khan back into the party fold.
Adv Ab Haq Khan, who previously served as a minister during the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, had distanced himself from active politics for a while.

His return to the PDP is seen as a boost to the party, which has been navigating through challenging political dynamics in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Mehbooba Mufti expressed her confidence in Khan’s leadership and experience, stating that his return would strengthen the party’s efforts to advocate for the rights and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

She reiterated the PDP’s commitment to continuing the legacy of her late father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and working towards a peaceful and prosperous future for the region.

Senior Vice President Ab Hamid Chaudhary also praised Khan’s decision to rejoin the PDP, highlighting his long-standing association with the party and his dedication to public service.

Chaudhary noted that Khan’s re-entry comes at a crucial time when the party is gearing up to address the concerns of the people and push for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Adv Ab Haq Khan who is likely to fight elections from Lolab in his remarks, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP’s principles.

He emphasized the need for unity within the party and pledged to work tirelessly to achieve the party’s goals. Khan also called on other leaders and workers to come together and strengthen the PDP in its mission to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir
