Jammu: Following credible information regarding the sale of the prohibited Nylon thread (Gattu), a police team from BPP Sandwan, led by IC BPP Sandwan, conducted raids on kite sellers in the Ghou Manhasa area, within the jurisdiction of PP Pounichak.
A police spokesman said that during the raid, the police seized six rolls of Nylon thread (Gattu) from a vendor selling synthetic Nylon thread made in China, which is banned in the Jammu District.
“The vendor, identified as Rajinder Kumar, S/O Rollu Ram, a resident of Ward No. 03, Ghou Manhasa, Jammu, is now facing legal action,” he said.
The spokeman said that an FIR has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is ongoing.
“The Jammu Police reiterate that the use of Chinese threads, commonly known as ‘Gattu’, is prohibited. Any person found using or selling these threads will be prosecuted according to the law,” he added.
