Ganderbal: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, who is also the Electoral Roll Observer for Ganderbal District, on Friday conducted a detailed review of the ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls.
The review meeting, held in the V.C. Room DC Office Ganderbal was attended by the District Election Officer (DEO) Ganderbal, Shyambir, Deputy District Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and representatives from various political parties.
During the meeting, the DEO presented an overview of the ongoing SSR, highlighting key aspects such as new voter registrations, deletions, modifications, and other vital statistics related to the district’s electorate. It was reported that a total of 207,408 voters are currently registered across both constituencies in the district, with 267 polling stations set up at 219 locations.
A significant focus of the meeting was the SSR process, with the DEO informing that 3,221 new registrations have been successfully added to the voter list.
The Div Com also reviewed activities under the SVEEP program, organization of special voter camps, house-to-house verifications, rationalization of polling stations and the ongoing digitization of electoral records in line with the ECI guidelines.
The Div Com interacted with the political party representatives, urging them to appoint Booth Level Agents for improved coordination and to ensure active participation in the SSR. He emphasized the importance of proactive involvement in the revision process to ensure that no eligible voter is left unregistered.
Highlighting the significance of outreach efforts, the Div Com stressed the need for comprehensive SVEEP and SSR activities to include all eligible voters in the electoral rolls. He reiterated that enhancing electoral literacy and voter participation is essential for the health of the democratic process.
While interacting with the officers, the Div Com urged all stakeholders to continue their efforts for a more inclusive and participatory electoral process.
