IIM Jammu celebrates 78 th Independence Day

Jammu : Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu celebrated the glorious 78 th year of Indian Independence as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with gaiety and fervor. The event commenced with a guard of
Honor, and the Indian tricolor flag was hoisted by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, in the presence of faculty, staff, and students of IIM Jammu. The faculty, staff, and students gathered in the Institute in large numbers to celebrate
Independence Day with patriotic fervor.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, appealed IIM Jammu community to recommit themselves to serving the nation and humanity, reflecting on the sacrifices made by our forefathers to secure India's independence. He emphasized the significance of India’s recent developments such as the rise of UPI, the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic through vaccination efforts, increased digital literacy, and a heightened awareness of global warming and humanity’s collective responsibility. He stressed that independence is not just a right but a profound responsibility that requires seriousness and dedication. He stressed on subject knowledge being crucial, and creation of a vibrant environment, and leading of a disciplined life for academic excellence. He called for a focus on academic rigor, discipline, and collaboration, urging students to respect every member of the community, and to take ownership of the resources they
use. He highlighted the Centers of Excellence at IIM Jammu as pivotal in driving the nation's progress, aligning with India’s vision of becoming the third-largest economy by 2047 as put forward by Narendra Modi, The Prime Minister of India. As part of “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, IIM Jammu hosted an enrapturing cultural event featuring singing, skits, poetry, and dance performances by students of the Darpan, Drama Club, IIM Jammu and the children of faculty and staff members. The celebrations embodied the spirit of unity as Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, joined with students, faculty, and staff to sing a patriotic song, marking the 78th Indian Independence Day celebrations. This was followed by a soulful rendition of the national anthem on the violin by Dr. Jaganth G., faculty member, IIM Jammu. The Independence Day celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from the entire IIM Jammu fraternity, creating an atmosphere charged
with patriotic fervor. A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the third edition of the Hindi Patrika, adding to the significance of the occasion.
Present on the 78 th Independence Day Celebrations were Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, Dr. Ateeque Shaikh, Chairperson, Executive Education, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, Dr. Apurva, Co-Chairperson, Student Affairs, Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Chairperson, Corporate Communication, IIM Jammu, Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Jammu along with the faculty, officers and staff of the Institute. While the Institute building lit up in tricolor, the feeling of patriotism was clearly visible in the eyes of all students, faculty, officers, and staff members during the unfurling of the National flag at the Institute. The event concluded on a jubilant note, with the sentiment of patriotism being echoed by all the attendees. The event was coordinated by the office of the Student Affairs and Student Council, IIM Jammu.
