Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has recovered illicit timber in Bijhama, Churanda Uri Baramulla and arrested five accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on reliable inputs, police party recovered 24 logs of illicit Deodar timber in Bijhama, Baramulla from an accused identified as Abdul Jabar Mir S/o Ghulam Qadir and Abdul Jabar Mir S/o Abdul Gaffar, both residents of Mayan Bijhama, who were transporting the illegal timber from nearby forests towards Hilpathribal.
Police said that in a similar action on reliable inputs, a police party recovered 15 logs of illicit Deodar timber in Bijhama, Baramulla from an accused identified as Mohd Sultan Lone S/o Gh Qadir & Ali Mohd Sheikh S/o Ab Jabar both residents of Kathihal Pathribal, were transporting the illegal timber from nearby forests towards Daryana Mayan.
In addition to this the police party recovered 20 logs of illicit Deodar timber in Churanda Uri from an another accused identified as Mohd Shafi Khatana S/o Siyan Khatana R/o Churanda Uri, was transporting the illegal timber from nearby forests towards Churunda.
Besides, all the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Bijhama & Police Station Uri where they remain in custody and later the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police reaffirms its commitment to keep society free of crime and taking strict action against those involved in criminal activities.
