Srinagar: In accordance with the J&K Legal Service Authority calendar for the year 2024, the District Legal Services Authorities of all the districts of Kashmir on Saturday organized a special LokAdalat for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases.
The LokAdalat was held under the directions of Justice TashiRabstan, Chief Justice (A) of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, cum Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, and under the supervision of Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority. LokAdalat for criminal compoundable cases serves as a transformative mechanism for resolving disputes and promoting social harmony. By providing a platform for parties to settle their differences amicably, LokAdalats contribute to a more just, peaceful, and equitable society.
LokAdalats continue to be an integral part of the justice delivery system, by virtue of their commitment to resolve disputes promptly and affordably and also alleviating the burden on the formal court system.
Meanwhile at Srinagar, the LokAdalat was held at the District Court Complex Mominabad Srinagar, under the supervision of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman of the DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar.On the occasion, 03 benches were constituted for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases. Overall 11 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 6 cases were amicably settled &Rs. 2,86,00000 was awarded as settlement amount in Criminal Compoundable Cases.
At Anantnag, a LokAdalat for Criminal Compoundable Cases was held on Saturday at District Court Complex Anantnag under the supervision of JaffarHussainBeigh, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Anantnag and under the guidance of TabassumQadirParray, Secretary DLSA, Anantnag.For amicable settlement of the cases, 06 benches were constituted.In the said LokAdalat, a total of 122 cases were taken up in which 51 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs. 27,41,500 was realized.
At Budgam, a LokAdalat for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases was on Saturday held at the District Court Complex Budgam, under the supervision of Khalil Ahmad Chowdhary (Pr. Distt.& Sessions Judge) Chairman DLSA Budgam.04 Benches constituted by DLSA Budgam took up a total of 46 cases for their amicable settlement, out of which 12 matters were settled. Besides, an amount of Rs.23,62,450 was realized in total in the settlement.
At Ganderbal, a special LokAdalat was held under the supervision of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.Two benches were constituted for amicable settlement of the cases. A total of 23 criminal compoundable cases were taken up, out of which 01 cases were successfully settled.
At Shopian, a Special LokAdalat on Criminal Compoundable Cases was held at ADR Centre District Court Complex Shopian under the supervision of Riaz- UI-HaqMirza, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian.A Special bench for Criminal Compoundable Cases was constituted that took up a total number of 40 cases for their amicable settlement. Out of which 22 Cases were settled, with a settled amount of Rs 2,93,000.
At Bandipora, the LokAdalat was held under the Supervision of Amit Sharma, Chairman DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Bandipora and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA, Bandipora.Two Benches were constituted for the said LokAdalat. A total of 25 cases were taken up for amicable settlement, out of which 15 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 37,500 was realized.
At Kupwara, the LokAdalat was held under the supervision of Chairperson, DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara, ShaziaTabasum, and guidance of Secretary, DLSA Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Khan.04 Benches were constituted for the said LokAdalat that took up a total number of 28 cases for amicable settlement, of which 08 cases were disposed as settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.

DLSA Samba holds Spl Lok Adalat
Samba: A Special LokAdalat on Criminal, Compoundable Cases was on Saturday inaugurated by Adnan Sayeed, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) at ADR, Centre, District Court Complex, Samba.
One Bench for settling the referred cases was constituted at District Court Complex Samba which was comprised of PreetSimran K. Grover, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Samba and HimaniParihar, Munsiff (JMIC) Samba. RekhaKapoorNischal, Secretary DLSA Samba coordinated the Special LokAdalat.
A total number of 14 cases were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which 07 cases were settled.
Besides this, DLSA Samba also organized a Legal Awareness program on “Revenue Laws” for the Trainee Judges and Legal Aid Counsels of DLSA Samba at ADR Centre, Samba wherein Adnan Sayeed, Chairman DLSA Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) was the Chief Guest who in his special address sensitised the Trainee Judges and other participants as to why understanding of Revenue laws is essential so as to serve the judicial system in a better way.
TehsildarGhagwal, Shakeel was the main resource person who deliberated upon the importance of the revenue laws.
He also informed the participants about the working of Land Record Information System App and how they can see the details of any land by opening this App.
RekhaKapoorNischal, Secretary DLSA Samba presented the welcome address whereas the proceedings of the program were conducted by NishaKumari, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel, DLSA Samba.
The awareness program was also witnessed by PreetSimran K. Grover, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Samba, AnantaRaina, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Samba UrvashiRaina, Addl. Munsiff, Samba and Panel Adovcates of DLSA Samba, staff members of DLSA Samba.

425 Criminal Compoundable cases settled amicably in Spl Lok Adalat
Srinagar :Under the patronage of Justice TashiRabstan, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief & Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority) and under the able guidance of Justice Sindhu Sharma, Chairperson, High Court Legal Services Committee, a Special LokAdalat was organized throughout the J&K on Saturday, with special emphasis on amicable settlement of Criminal Compoundable Cases that were pending disposal before various courts in J&K. This was the 8th Special LokAdalat of the current calendar year.
As per the data received from various District Legal Services Authorities across the J&K, a total of 994 cases were taken up in the Special LokAdalat, out of which 425 cases were amicably settled involving a total amount of Rs.3, 30, 24,050/- giving a huge relief to the litigants.
Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Amit Kumar Gupta, while talking to media persons informed that this was the 8th Special LokAdalat of the current calendar year and the next special lokAdalat shall be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, focusing on the settlement of Consumer Cases. He urged the Advocates in general and the litigants in particular to take maximum benefit of such Special LokAdalats which are being organized by the J&K Legal Services Authority.
Appreciating the efforts of all the Judicial Officers, Secretaries DLSA’s, Advocates, staff of the district and tehsil courts as well as Legal Services Institutions besides litigants for their whole hearted participation in the Special LokAdalat and facilitating settlement of cases in such a large number, he also acknowledged the role of Para Legal Volunteers and the media, both print and electronic in creating and spreading awareness amongst the masses about such initiatives of Legal Services Authority.

82 Cases settled during Lok Adalat at Pulwama
Pulwama: A Lok-Adalat on amicable settlement of Criminal Compoundable cases was on Saturday organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in District Court & other sub-ordinate courts of District Pulwama.
The special Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Naseer Ahmad Dar, Chairman DLSA (Pr.District& Sessions Judge), Pulwama and under the supervision of Susheel Singh Secretary DLSA Pulwama.
On the occasion, a total number of 168 cases were taken up by 04 benches in the district out of which 82 cases were amicably settled.
An amount of Rs,7,01,400 was realized as settlement amount in all cases.

DLSA Kathua organises Spl Lok Adalat on Criminal Compoundable Cases, Traffic Challans
Kathua: As per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority for the month of August, 2024 and under the radiant guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua Ashok Kumar Shavan, (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua), a Special LokAdalat on Criminal Compoundable Cases and Traffic Challan were organized by DLSA Kathua at District Court Complex Kathua on Saturday.
Three Benches for settling the referred Criminal Compoundable Cases and Traffic Challan cases were constituted in which Bench No. 1 was comprised of Surinder Kumar Thapa, Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Kathua and Neena Thakur, Ld. Distt Mobile Magistrate. Bench No.2 was comprised of Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC, Basohli, and Advocate, Shub Kumar, President, Bar Association Basohli. Bench No. 3 was comprised of JyotiBhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar and Poonam Gupta, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Billawar.
A total number of 71 Criminal Compoundable Cases and Traffic Challan were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which 65 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 66,500 was realized as settlement amount.
