Swachhta Pakhwada: Mega Plantation & Sanitation drives held at GMC Srinagar and its 9 Associated Hospitals

Rich tributes paid to Martyrs under the theme ‘Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam’

Srinagar : Government Medical College Srinagar Saturday carried out a mega plantation drive under the theme ‘EkPedShaheedonKeNaam’, focusing on environmental conservation and cleanliness as a tribute to martyrs under SwachhtaPakhwada campaign.
Under this campaign, a series of programmes have been carried out so far in GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals.
The tree plantation drive was marked by the enthusiastic involvement of college faculty, administrative staff, college students including PGs and UGs, by planting of various indigenous saplings in the premises of Govt. Medical College thereby creating more green space and contributing towards environment conservation. The department of Social Forestry also participated in the mega event.
The drive was kick-started by Principal/ Dean Government Medical College Srinagar, Prof. DrIffat Hassan in presence of Administrator GMC Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak and all the Head of Departments of Govt Medical College, Medical Superintendents of all Associated Hospitals, Chief Accounts Officer, Personnel Officer, Administrative Officer, Estate Officer, RMOs, CMOs, PGs, MBBS Students and all other desks officers, by planting the saplings.
During this drive, saplings were planted in one of the gardens of Government Medical College Srinagar, with the aim to contribute towards a clean and eco friendly environment and as a rich tribute to the martyrs. About 250 saplings were planted in GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals on Saturday which show commitment of GMC Srinagar towards conservation of environment and towards a clean society.
On this occasion a massive cleanliness drive as a part of the ongoing SwachhataPakhwada was carried out in Govt Medical College Srinagar wherein Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar along with all staff members/ faculty members / students participated.
Similarly, in all Associated Hospitals of Government Medical College Srinagar under the supervision of concerned Medical Superintendent Plantation and Sanitation drive was carried out.
On the occasion, Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar appreciated the efforts of all staff members of the college and she also appealed to everyone to actively participate in the drive thereby contributing to a clean & green environment. She also emphasized that these initiatives help us to make this mother earth green and also saves the environment. She further said that such programmes will continue in future also.
At the end of the programme, Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar distributed certificates amongst the sanitation, gardening and Ministerial staff as a mark of appreciation and recognition of their high standards and continuing excellence in Sanitation ,Cleanliness and Hygiene services.
