Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has seized a total of 16 Tractors, 5 Tippers and 1 JCB for being involved in the illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the first week of August this year.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that this proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by all the Police Stations of District Budgam, adding therein that along with the Mineral Department, Budgam Police realised fines to the tune of lakhs of rupees against illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its committment to act tough against the violators and also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood.
