2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police in Kulgam on Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by In-charge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at village Nipora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03B-5292 with two suspects onboard identified as Shafat Ahmad Khanday S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday R/o Damjan and Jora Singh S/o Darshan Singh R/o Dholan Ludhiana, Punjab , adding therein that during search 7.3 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 202/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation . In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
