Budgam : Deputy Commissioner Budgam (DC) Akshay Labroo on Thursday launched Fortnight “Swachhta Pakhawada” cleanliness and sanitation program at Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on maintaining cleanliness in houses, on roads, public places including tourist spots and all other surroundings for the healthy society.
The week long campaign starting from on Thursday upto 15th of August , being organized by District administration in collaboration with Rural Development Department would focus on cleanliness programs, awareness generation regarding Swachhta to highlight the need for cleanliness in all 296 panchayats of Budgam.
Emphasizing on the effective cleanliness and hygiene, he said that we all must save our water bodies from getting polluted as our moral obligation not only to be safe from the water borne diseases but also save them for the future generations.
The DC asserted on proper disposal of both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste (plastic and polythene) and said separate dustbins should be used for the same.
Terming, public cooperation as must for the success of the cleanliness mission, he urged students and SHGs to be part of the drive and take it to every household in their respective vicinities.
The DDC instructed all officers that the focus should be given on mobilizing the local people through community participation in the cleanliness drives, besides generating mass awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on maintaining cleanliness not only in houses but also on roads, public places including tourist spots of Doodhpathri, Tosamaidan and Yousmarg and all other surroundings for the healthy society.
The fortnight campaign, being organized by Rural Development Department would focus on cleanliness programs, awareness generation regarding Swachhta to highlight the need for cleanliness in higher educational /school education institutions,panchayats , hospitals and other adjoining areas .
Later, the DC laid the foundation stone of community sanitary complex (CSC) at Boys Hr. Secondary school Budgam and dedicated the same to public.
Among others, the campaign was attended by ADDC Budgam , CPO Budgam, CEO, ACD Budgam, DPO, BDO Budgam and Principal BHSS Budgam.
