Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has booked notorious drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention order from competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the drug smuggler namely Nazir Ahmad Gagroo @NaziraS/o Abdul KarimR/o Arampora, District Baramulla has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged at Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Stating that many cases were registered against the said drug smuggler for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Sheeri, Fatehgarh, Old Town, New Town, Kanispora, Delina and other areas of District , Police in its statement further said that despite the involvement in many FIRs the said accused did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its timely action against drug peddlers/smugglers, reiterating therein its commitment to keep society free from drug abuse.
