Arrangements for smooth conduct of Swachhta Pakhwada finalized at G’bal

Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambiron Tuesday convened a meeting of concerned officers at Mini Secretariat, here to review and finalize the preparations for the smooth conduct of SwachhtaPakhwada in the district.
The meeting held detailed discussions on various activities planned for the fortnight-long campaign under the theme ‘The ShuchitaSangram’, starting from 1st August till 15th August across the district to promote cleanliness and hygiene and instill the sense of civic duty among the citizens of the district.
Threadbare discussions was held on various activities including extensive cleanliness drives, awareness programs, rallies, marathons, quiz programs and workshops aimed at cleaning our surroundings and educating the public about waste management, sanitation practices, and the harmful effects of pollution.
As part of the campaign, a swachhata pledge will be held on 1st August which will witness participation by students from all the institutions across the district whereas health checkup camps will be held for all sanitation workers involved in door-to-door waste collection at Panchayat level on August 2nd.
Furthermore, it was informed that cleanliness drives and awareness drives shall be held in all schools and colleges of the district besides, educational sessions on the importance of source segregation, waste management and the ill effects of plastic on day 3rd of the campaign.
Tehsildars and BDOs were given the responsibility of Legacy waste site clearance to be held on 4th August.
DYSSO was tasked to conduct Swachhta themed sports activities including plog runs, marathons and Cricket matches. Besides, youth led teams shall clean public parks, sports fields, and tourist places before starting the activities.
Highlighting the significance of SwachhataPakhwada, the DC directed for conducting cleanliness drives near water bodies, riverbanks and Amritsarovars.
He also called for an active participation of local communities to come forward and contribute to the cleanliness drive.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Gulzar Ahmad, ACD, CPO and other district and sectoral officers.
