Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. RakeshMinhason Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the preparedness and control measures to prevent spread of dengue in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Ranjit Singh, Chief Medical Officer Kathua, Dr. Vijay Raina, XEN PWD, XEN Jal Shakti Department, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kathua and other concerned officials.
The CMO Kathua provided a comprehensive update on the Dengue scenario, including the number of positive cases reported over the past year, the volume of samples collected, high-risk areas identified and preparations for a cluster survey. It was noted that each hospital has been allocated two dedicated beds with nets specifically for Dengue patients.
During the review, DC Minhas emphasized the need for intensified preventive activities, including ensuring the availability of essential blood products, such as platelets, and medications. He highlighted the importance of accurate patient diagnosis and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures for effective treatment.
The DC also laid emphasis on enhancing the sample collection process to ensure timely detection and treatment of Dengue cases. He directed the health officials to ensure availability of testing facilities at each block and Community Health Centre, making it easily accessible to all.
The DC also called for a thorough study of the case history of death cases reported last year due to Dengue, to identify the lapses and areas for improvement. He directed the health officials to conduct awareness seminars and workshops in Government Medical College Kathua and associated hospitals, focusing on the Dengue Treatment Protocol. This, he emphasized, would ensure that the medical staff is well-equipped to handle Dengue cases effectively and provide quality treatment to the patients.
The DC directed CEO MC Kathua to lead efforts in regular cleaning of dumping sites, fogging within municipal limits, and strict enforcement in high-risk areas. He stressed the necessity of maintaining clear and unobstructed drainage systems to prevent water logging, which contributes to mosquito breeding.
The DC urged health officials to continue daily monitoring and to raise mass awareness about Dengue and Malaria prevention and control. He called for ongoing coordination with concerned departments and requested the CEO MC to submit detailed action plans and strategies to address these water-borne diseases effectively.
The DC also underscored the significance of cleanliness and sanitation drives across all institutions to mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks.
