Jammu: As part of its ongoing operation against drug peddlers, Operation SANJEEVANI, the J&K Police arrested a man with heroin in the RS Pura sub-division of Jammu on 25.07.2024.
The arrest occurred during a routine patrol by the Police Station RS Pura at a checkpoint in Mottey.
A pedestrian, identified as Atul Chouhdary, son of Narinder Pal alias Bulla, resident of Puro Bhana, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu, was found in possession of heroin when the police stopped and searched him. Chouhdary attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police.
A police spokesman said that case under FIR No. 154/2024 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and the investigation is underway.
“It is noteworthy that Chouhdary is already involved in previous NDPS Act cases. His mother, Tara Devi, was recently arrested on 24.07.2024 in case FIR No. 152/2024 under the same sections and is currently in police custody.
“His father, Narinder Pal alias Bulla, has been involved in four cases and is currently lodged in District Jail Kathua under the stringent PIT NDPS Act. The family is notorious for their involvement in drug peddling, negatively impacting the youth in the area,” he said.
The local community has praised the police for their effective action against the drug menace.
