Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered Psychotropic substances from him possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs received from reliable sources regarding marketing of drugs in Model Town D, the SSP Sopore constituted a team headed by SDPO SoporeSarfaraz Bashir and SHO Police Station Sopore Insp. Ayaz Gellani assisted by Executive Magistrate Tehsildar and other police officers/officials including IC Police Post Bus Stand . Stating that the team recovered 31 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the specific spot but the accused namely Owais Mushtaq Hakeem S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Hakeem R/o Model Town D managed to escape from the spot and after strenuous efforts, the accused was arrested, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 177/2024 under relevant sections of law was at Police Station Sopore besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes with the nearest police establishment or dial 112 in order to root out the menace of drug abuse from our society.
