Srinagar|July, 25 : Acting tough against rash driving vehicles, stunts and driving of vehicles by minors, city traffic police authorities have seized a large number of vehicles including two wheelers over the past few weeks.
A senior traffic police officer said that they have intensified the drive over the past few weeks and that they have seized about 30-40 two wheelers in a day. “The purpose of this drive is to instill a proper driving responsibility among people. The drive will intensify more in the coming days. Among the seizure of vehicles on a daily basis, almost 7-8 are driven by minors,” he said. According to the official, they have not only intensified drive against two wheelers but have also started night inspection drives against the Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) entering the city, particularly tippers. “HMVs entering the city are being checked and many have been seized for multiple violations. These drives will intensify more in the coming days”, he added.
The traffic police authorities in a tweet on X said that drives against two wheelers indulging in dangerous driving, without crash helmets, masked number plates were conducted at various locations in which a large number of vehicles were seized.
Another traffic police officer supervising the inspection drive against HMVs said that over 30 tippers were seized for different violations during the last few days.The officer added following the seizure of the vehicles, drivers were sanitized about following the driving rules and regulations and maintaining of all vehicle documents before plying on the roads
