Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Wanpora near bridge intercepted a suspect identified as Sartaj Ahmad Shah S/o Abdul Gani Sha R/o Gundipora carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 2 Kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance from the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 195/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigations, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
