Srinagar: Cyber Cell of J&K Police on Monday said that it has successfully resolved several cases of online financial fraud, recovering a total of ₹215,792 in Handwara tehsil district Kupwara.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the three complaints were received involving fraudulent schemes amounting to ₹209,017, ₹3,775, and ₹3,000, adding therein that these scams involved fake investment opportunities wherein victims were promised high returns for additional deposits.
Police in its statement further said while acting swiftly on the said complaints, the Cyber Cell collected evidence and necessary information from the victims and later while using advanced cyber tactics, they managed to block the fraudulent transactions, adding therein that an amount of ₹209,017 was held and recovered and ₹6,775 was successfully credited back to the victims in two other cases.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Cyber Cell of J&K appealed people to remain cautious against online scams like fake trading platforms.
