Dir Horticulture(J) launches massive plantation drive in District Kathua

Dir fixes targets to plant 10 lacs fruit plants in Jammu province during the Rainy Season

Jammu : Director Horticulture Jammu, ChamanLal Sharma on Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of Kathua district. During the tour, he launched the plantation drive under the scheme Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in district Kathua by planting saplings of Mango plants in the farmer’s field at village Hira Nagar and Barnoti in the presence of Chief Horticulture Officer KathuaAshwani Sharma, District Horticulture Officer, Horticulture Development Officer & farmers.
During the programme, the Director had an interaction with the farmers wherein he stressed the need to encourage High Density Plantation in the area.
He also stressed the importance of these initiatives in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing the economic stability of farmers.
During the programme, the Director also handed over keys of Tractors & Power Tillers to the beneficiaries under HADP (Farm Mechanization & Automation) at Hira Nagar village.
The Director Horticulture Jammu take the pledge to Green Jammu with 10 lacs fruit plants during the Rainy Season.
CHO Kathua asked the farmers to come forward to avail the benefits of various schemes and also addressed the technical issues of the farmers related to the production of fruit crops.
Further, the Director Horticulture chaired a meeting of the District Officers, Horticulture Development Officers, officials & field functionaries of district Kathua.
At the outset, Chief Horticulture Officer, briefed the chair about the progress made under all the schemes being implemented in the district.
While taking a review of the ongoing schemes, Director Horticulture impressed upon all the officers and officials to expedite the works undertaken for the development of the departmental nurseries and organize awareness camps, KissanGoshtis, etc. to ensure better implementation of departmental schemes for the ultimate benefit of the fruit growers.
