Srinagar|July,14  :  Chairman J&K Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on  Sunday  impressed upon the central Government to  value the socio – political  aspirations of the people of jammu and kashmir  to win their hearts and minds . He also demanded immediate restoration of statehood and assembly elections.
Addressing a public rally at  Watred  Khachwadi  in  Khansahib constituency of Budgam district Hakeem said “Instead of  giving more powers to   L.G  by amending the  the Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 , the Center should work to restore  trust and faith among the people by restoring   democratic and constitutional rights especially  statehood to  Jammu and Kashmir and holding elections to   assembly , municipalities and local bodies at the earliest .  He said  by giving more powers to JK LG , the center has raised doubts  among the people about its  sincerely to  hold elections and restore statehood in near future  . He has demanded roll back of the controversial amendment made in the JK Reorganisation Act adding that “  we are living in a democratic country and the decision to make constitutional amendments should be left for the elected Governments only . “Right now ,the focus of the Center should be to bring people nearer to the mainstream and not to create confusion amd mistrust  by making controversial amendments in J&K constitution unilaterally , Hakeem maintained.
PDF Chairman said  that  holding early elections to assembly , local bodies and municipal elections  will help to  build mutual trust besides enabling  people to elect their own public representatives.  He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been continuously deprived of their elected assembly and democratic rights for the past 9 years now , due to which an atmosphere of political and social uncertainty has been created here. “There is no response from the administration to public demands at the grass roots level and the common people are completely deprived of basic facilities ,Hakeem observed.
PDF chief  said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be assured that their rights on land and job would not be compromised under any circumstances . He has also sought a massive central employment package with a commitment to regularise services of about 60000 daily wagers working in various government departments and undertakings.   Hakeem   cautioned people against  the beaten track policies and falsehood of the traditional political parties who have a history of breaking promises .  He said  like the last 70 years, these parties have again  started exploiting innocent people on sectarian, regional and religion  basis to gain power . He  said  the era of deceptive politics was over now  and only those people can win the elections who are honest and  are deeply connected with the people at the ground level. “ It was because of wrong policies of some political parties during the last 70 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are facing the current  situation of socio – political uncertainty , Hakeem maintained  adding that due to the unfortunate situation, thousands of precious lives have been lost, thousands of children have become orphans, thousands of sisters have become widows, and property worth billions of rupees has been destroyed. He  said  people were  now fed up with violence and unrest and they want to live a peaceful life with dignity . He said there is a need to heal the wounds of people and respect the value of their self-respect.
