Agriculture Deptt organizes workshop on PMFBY

Samba:  A workshop on implementation of Prime Minister Flagship Scheme  ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY)’, was organized for field officers of Agriculture and Horticulture Department, here Wenesday.

Deputy Mission Director PMFBY,  K K Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer Iqbal Choudhary, Assistant. Director Planning Megha, District Agriculture Officer Vijay Upadhaya, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Samba Sanjay Verma and Oriental Insurance Company’s Representative Vijay Kumar were present as facilitators.

The participants were sanitized on various aspects of crop insurance required to ensure effective implementation of the scheme in Rabi 2017-18.

During the workshop , the field functionaries were asked to create awareness among farmers for risk coverage on investments on crop husbandry with 90% indemnity. Insurance of Rs.35000/ha for Paddy, Rs.30,000/ha for Maize, Rs.35000/ha for wheat and Rs.70,000/ha for Mango can be availed on minimum premium of 2%, 2%, 1.5% and 5% respectively. All Farmers, Loanee, Non-Loanee, Tenants, Sharecropper can be covered under the Scheme.

It was apprised that minimum Target of 7476 ha under wheat has been fixed for Rabi 2017-18, whereas, 2718 ha under Paddy & 1221 under Maize have been covered under insurance in Samba District during Kharif 2017.

The workshop saw discussion on all aspects of crop insurance alongwith close coordination with Revenue Department especially location of CCE plot in advance taking Khasra No. and random table, need for complete record of crop cycle with supporting pictures/videos was highlighted for settlement of clai It was also cleared that Block is a Reference unit Area and not a village. Crop Yield of block based on 16 CCE  is the basis of assessment in reference to the  yield of last 7 years.

Deputy Mission Director, K K Sharma directed the field staff to submit information regarding crop cuts already conducted, for uploading in the Insurance portal.

District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Samba has been nominated as Nodal Officer for PMFBY Scheme in the district.
