Pulwama: District Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom presided over a Block Divas at the Block Headquarter Pampore, marking an important milestone in the Government’s public outreach initiative aimed at grassroot engagement.
At the event, residents raised a spectrum of pressing issues, including challenges with access to drinking water, the need for road macadamization, progress on the PMGSY, availability of medicines at govt health institutions, streamlining rural sanitation facilities, infrastructure improvements for power supply, playground allocation and other grievances and demands.
The DC promptly directed the concerned to provide detailed Action Taken Reports by the next day detailing specific timelines as also the feasibility of various demands so that feasible and doable demands are incorporated in appropriate schemes / programs demonstrating a swift and accountable approach to addressing public grievances. Immediate resolutions were offered for some issues on the spot, while others were duly noted for follow-up action with the relevant departments.
During interaction with participants a slew of suggestions and feedback was also received regarding planning and implementation of various govt proposals & interventions.
DC urged participants to actively participate and engage with RDD for making our panchayats clean and green. Directed Concerned officers to activate village sanitation committees through training and exposure visits.
Significantly, during the gathering, the DC facilitated the distribution of 28 approvals totaling Rs 30 lakh under various flagship programs administered by the animal husbandry department. These approvals were disbursed to selected beneficiaries, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting local communities and fostering sustainable development.
The public gathering was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including members of the District Development Council, Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Chief Planning Officer Pulwama, district officers, and the general public from the area. This diverse participation highlighted a collaborative approach to address community needs and promote inclusive growth.
In addition to addressing immediate concerns, skit on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) were also demonstrated, indicating a holistic approach towards addressing water-related challenges and enhancing access to clean water for all residents.
Through such proactive engagements and targeted interventions, the administration of Pulwama is committed to enhancing public welfare, fostering dialogue, and ensuring effective service delivery to all segments of society. The successful conduct of the block Divas reflects the government’s dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
